After Scorpio—Sagittarius follows.
After life has held our head underwater until we scream out where it hurt, (because pain grants power to Scorpio, as do death, grief, and the unfulfilled desire that torments rather than release), when the Sun enters Sagittarius, life (through the Sun) leads us through fire and chokes us with smoke. Until we confess to ourselves the very last lie we hold about who we are or the world around us.
With Scorpio, life forces us to turn what we mistake for tenderness, love, or pain into raw energy, and what we take for fear into power. And those are, more often than not, Scorpio’s two greatest fears: the fear of power itself, and the fear of true energy.
Then, once the battle of ‘who breaks first‘ and ‘who can endure longer’ is over, the Sun moves on into the sign of Sagittarius.
Though it seems lighter on the surface, far more approachable, here too life has resolved to strengthen us with the Sun. If in Scorpio we begged for air while life held us submerged, here it places us—soaked and soiled—upon the pyre until we admit to ourselves all our delusions, excuses, justifications, the lies we told to comfort ourselves, our sins, impurities, hypocrisies, borrowed knowledge, oppressive morality, and everything else that must be acknowledged, until we become the one who no longer needs to prove to anyone that they are free.
That is why Scorpio heals—because it sees exactly where the pain is.
And Sagittarius liberates—because it reveals the truth we fear most.
Thus, Scorpio is transformation.
And Sagittarius is igniation. In our language, truly translated as “baptism by fire.” In its original form it is rarely mentioned, except perhaps as the monastic name Ignatius or the like. It signifies burning, reduction to ash, and the renewed kindling of spirit—but a pure spirit, liberated.
Yet first, half-dead as we emerge from Scorpio’s grip, it destroys us. Completely, to ashes.
Only from those ashes does it permit us to rise, truly our own.
Then the heart begins to pound as never before, finally understanding that it is allowed to, and that it is not here merely to survive “one more day.”A passion for life without permissions, announcements, or greetings.
You neither give them nor seek them.
While in Scorpio everything cries “Confess!” (that it hurts, that you want to scream, that you hate, that you are not made of steel and can break, that you have lied, cheated, stolen, wished harm on others and they on you, that you were weak)—where confession is the only way to cleanse yourself in that depth and come alive again (be resurrected). For as long as you lie to yourself, you remain dead while living;
In Sagittarius it is “Renounce!”
Renounce everything that is not yours.
Renounce everything you thought you were.
Renounce roles, masks, titles, expectations, the “shoulds,” the “musts,” the “remember how they taught you.”
Renounce people who love you only when you belong to them.
Renounce places that hold you only because you are used to them.
Renounce even those memories that warm your heart, if they have begun to bind you.
Renounce the security that is really only fear of the truth.
Renounce—and DO NOT CLING.
Burn it in the fire, scorch the folders, tear the photographs, and set yourself free.
For, Renunciation is not loss.
It is the first true breath after drowning.
Like when someone survives an almost certain death and says: This is my rebirth, and from today on I will no longer… because at last they know they are free from everything and everyone.
